The Irish Republican Army, has claimed responsibility for whats believed to have been a limpet mine explosion in Derry last week. The claim was published via the Irish News.
In their statement to the Irish News the IRA said they had targeted a member of the Crown Forces who was based at “headquarters in east Belfast”.
The member of the Crown Forces was unharmed in the attack and the mine exploded after the British Army were deployed to the area. The IRA statement said the mine was “fitted with a ‘secondary anti-handling device” this may account for why it exploded when the British Army were deployed.
The IRA statement said they would continue “to attack members of the British armed forces at a time of our choosing”
