Saoradh’s National office in Derry City, “Junior McDaid House”, was targeted by British Crown Forces in a heavy-handed raid this morning.
The raids followed on from a successful weekend for Republicans both in Derry city and across Ireland as Republicans commemorated Ireland’s patriot dead on the 102nd anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising.
Speaking out about the ongoing raids, Saoradh representative, Paddy Gallagher said “After a number of calls for Republicans to be “brought before the law” by those in Sinn Féin and other pro-establishment parties, we are now witnessing the Crown Forces answer those calls.”
While making their way to Junior McDaid House, five Republican activists from Derry were lifted by masked and armed RUC/PSNI Crown Forces. The men were taken to the British barracks at Strand Road and released a few hours later, under draconian bail conditions aimed at denying them the right to political expression enshrined in the European Convention of human rights.
Republicans face a daily battle with British Crown Forces as we try to live our lives but on the word of British administrators within Sinn Fein, these battles have increased.
Tactics such as this by the violent forces of British imperialism has failed in the past, they failed today and they will fail in the future.
